Items for Discussion:
- Introductions of members and guests.
- Assign committee member to take/post meeting minutes (Devin)
- Update & Discussion on workers’ compensation injuries (Jeff): Numbers and more information to come.
- Group discussed specific incidents since last meeting.
- Review and Discuss Completed Quarterly Safety Checklists: Any issues? Can everyone see these checklists?
- Everyone can/has seen the quarterly audits of branches.
- Questions about evacuation routes are resurfacing.
- Occupation limits at libraries are determined by the fire chief responsible for each library.
- New Safety Checklist Forms for Departments: Jeff will have a final draft for the committee to review & finalize soon.
- Review Incidents/Accidents. Group reviewed and discussed new incidents/accidents since last meeting. The updated form includes the Safety Committee on the email distribution list. Is everyone getting the forms?
- The MLS members are receiving the forms.
- New Incident form for Incidents/Accidents: what do we want to do on this? Insurica has recommended using a new form.
- The committee discussed the new form.
- The new form includes much more detail and can be used electronically.
- The new form would be for filing claims for vendors, volunteers, and visitors who have medical/accidents’ claims only. Behavioral or other incidents would still be posted in PITS. Employee accidents/medical would still use Workers Comp.
- The language needs to mirror the old form.
- The committee discussed the new form.
- Fire Drills/Evacuation Plans—Ongoing. Dennis is continuing to work on setting these up with local fire departments to set up fire drills.
- Dennis has completed the alarm project, which included installing fire panels.
- Dennis will be working with risk management in OKC on the fire drills.
- Drug Use in the Library by Guests—Ongoing. Dennis, Steve, and Jeff continue to work on a solution for this issue.
- Chemical Inventory Lists—need to update these for all locations. These will be sent out in mid-May to all the locations/departments to complete.
- The form needs to be updated as it has been 2 years since we did an inventory.
- Ozium should have been pulled and disposed of safely and the SDS should be removed from binders.
- Safety Meeting Topic for April/May—What do we want to send out to the managers to discuss?
- The committee chose materials handling for the topic.
- Other suggestions for future topics: situational awareness, working with guests of differing abilities, Good Samaritan law.
- Audits/walk-through: Will be conducting walk-through here today.
- The team looked around Nicoma Park.
- The building is over 60 years old.
- Some issues were identified and will be addressed with the appropriate departments.

- Next Safety Committee Mtg. on Wed. 5/29/2024 @ 2:00pm. We need to decide on a library/location to meet. Meetings are the last Wednesday of the month--every other month. Subsequent meetings will be on 7/31, 9/25, & 11/20.
- The May meeting will be at BE.
- Future meeting sites are tentatively set.
