Submitted by risa.jensen-jones on Tue, 08/08/2023 - 10:29
Meeting Date / Time:
Wednesday, July 26, 2023 - 2:00pm
Meeting Location:
Downtown Library
Attendees:
Steve Butts (MTC), Jeff Cover (HUM), Mandie Fischer (HUM), Risa Jensen-Jones (PSA), Greg Keenon (HUM), Dennis Letter (SEC), Todd Podzemny (SO), John Rahhal (BUS), Jason Wiggins (DN)
Items for Discussion:
- Introductions of members and guests.
- Assign committee member to take/post meeting minutes (Risa)
- DN fire extinguishers - some got missed for inspection; Dennis will help maintain these along with MTC
- Update & Discussion on workers’ compensation injuries (Jeff and Greg): Numbers and more information to come.
- Discussed the types of claims since the last meeting.
- New Safety Consultant with CompSource—Brandon Bredy is switching to other clients, and we will have a new person assigned to our account. Her name is Amber Summers, and she will be at our next meeting in September.
- New Work Comp Claim/Investigation Form: New forms will be added to the Intranet soon for managers to use when filing claims. Managers will complete these forms for all injuries even when calling Consult Care. This provides internal reporting and investigation into the cause of the injury.
- Consult Care: 24/7 nurse hotline offered through CompSource. Just a reminder, the expectation is that managers are expected to use the hotline when reporting claims. All claims, unless they are life-threatening and need immediate emergency treatment, should be going through this nurse hotline. Mandie sent out fliers to all of the branches to post in their breakrooms for reference in June. Managers should also keep a copy of the steps on file for reference.
- Review and Discuss Completed Quarterly Safety Checklists: Issues reported: Some line items may not be relevant to departments as opposed to whole buildings, such as evacuation routes. Steve will review in which cases occupancy signs are required.
- New Safety Checklist Forms for Departments: Want to extend using these checklists for each of the departments in system. Jeff is working to schedule a meeting with John Rahhal to discuss this further.
- Review Incidents/Accidents. Have 2 new ones involving guests to discuss.
- Issues with handling sharps. Need to discuss how we want to proceed. May want to discontinue the program based on research that indicates that we may not need to send the sharps containers off for disposal. We will investigate where we are in the contract for the service.
- Response Plan for How to Handle Drug Use in Libraries—Dennis and Jeff will be working together to put together a report/plan for our employees. We have a sample plan that we will use as a guide to help us.
- Fire Drills/Evacuation Plans—Will be scheduling a meeting with Dennis to decide how we want to do this.
- Boiler Room at Midwest City Alarm Issue—Need to determine how we want to proceed with this area of concern. It was observed that many things are stored in the boiler room. It was determined that everything has been appropriate for that storage. MC is getting alarm alerts for specific zones. MTC is hoping their recent work has resolved the issue.
- Safety Meeting Topic for August/September
- Next topic for safety topic will be on materials handling
- Audits/walk-through: Will be conducting walk-through here at DN today.
