Training Times February 2019

A big thank you for your patience with the migration from Lynda.com to LinkedIn Learning (a.k.a. LIL).  LIL has been experiencing a few technical glitches but they are working diligently to get them fixed as MLS reports them.

What we used to call "playlist, which was custom content from Lynda.com" are now called Learning Paths. The idea is still the same however, they look a bit different.  ADDITIONALLY, LIL is having a bug issue once you reach the end of the playlist.

Watch the video for more details and clarification on how to navigate ~ https://screencast-o-matic.com/u/VFEJ/Learningpaths.

In case you missed the short video on how to take a LinkedIn Learning course through EduBrite

Creating Great First Impressions First impressions matter. Whether you're walking into a meeting, interview, or negotiation, you need to know how to instantly build rapport. Luckily, the ability to make a lasting first impression isn't an innate skill; there's actually a science to it.
Building Online Communities Learn how to build community to create better connections with customers and followers. Discover how to leverage the right social media platform, engage in real conversations, and create a tribe of people who are passionate and loyal to your business.
How to Use LinkedIn Learning (LIL)  To get the most from LinkedIn Learning, we've developed this short course to get you up and running. Learn how to find the best courses to take using our recommendations and search tools, explore learning paths, play and pause training videos, use transcripts and exercise files, and customize your learning experience.
Succeeding in a New Job Success starts with a good foundation, a great plan, and an attitude of humility—no matter your level of expertise. From there, you learn techniques to integrate with your team, communicate and collaborate effectively, and find mentors at your company.
What to Do in the First 90 Days of your New Job In this course, she breaks down those first 90 days for you, month by month, and outlines the activities you need to perform in order to make a real impact. Learn how to absorb all the new information, impress your boss and get along with your coworkers, and deliver the performance you promised in your interview. Plus, find out what to do if the job's not everything you expected it would be.
Working with Upset Customers More than any other topic, frontline employees ask for advice on how to serve angry and upset customers. This course will reveal proven techniques for effectively neutralizing negative situations. Customer service expert Jeff Toister also shares specific actions employees can take before and after encounters with upset customers that will reduce the likelihood of problems occurring in the future.
Phone-Based Customer Service Customer service expert Jeff Toister helps customer service specialists develop the specific skills needed to help customers over the phone. Learn how to break the ice and develop rapport with the people you serve, even when you're pressed for time. Tune out distractions and develop listening skills that are critically important to phone service. Last, learn how to express empathy, de-escalate angry callers, and stay focused throughout the day.
How to Develop Your Career Plan Creating a career plan is vital. Wherever you're going, you'll arrive faster—and encounter less stress along the way—if you have a plan in place. In this concise course, instructor Aimee Bateman steps through how to create an effective career plan that brings you one step closer to your dream job. Learn how to design and implement your career plan, create a personal development plan (PDP), set achievable goals, and connect with a mentor.
Leading without Formal Authority Leadership isn't just a skill for managers. Demonstrating leadership is important for employees at every level of an organization. There are opportunities to lead every day, whether you hold a formal leadership position or not.
Learning Mobile Device Security (2019) Mobile devices have become critical to the way we work and live. That's what makes them such an attractive target to hackers and cybercriminals. This course provides a practical, hands-on approach to securing your mobile device and protecting your hardware, apps, and data from theft and intrusion. Mobile device management expert Ryan Spence provides an overview of the risks and general security best practices, such as choosing and properly disposing of a mobile device and using password protection. He then covers specifics on Android and iOS security, including enrolling in a mobile device management program such as Apple Business Manager and Android Enterprise. Finally, learn how to secure the hardware itself: the camera, microphones, sensors, and radios.

NOTE: These are from LinkedIn Learning (LIL) which means the videos are short video vignettes and will be bookmarked where you last let off!
