Teen Cabinet Minutes - April 05, 2018
Summer Reading update
- Training should be available by mid-April. Jennifer Adkisson at RE has been working on a training plan.
- Teresa, Emily and other staff were out at the service center this week working on book inventory for summer reading.
- The summer reading supply catalog will be ready by May 1st so everyone can order their first couple of weeks of supplies.
- This year will be very similar to last year. Adult prizes will be tote bags for 10 hours and pop socket for 20 hours.
- Emily shared an OBPE relating to summer reading (handout) –This document outlines our goals and measurement for summer. There will be no competition between libraries this year. The final document will be uploaded on the summer reading site for all staff. Most of the data will be tracked with Beanstack, CarlX, and program attendance.
Communication
- Discussed how communication is going with engagement managers sharing information with their staff and what we need from EPS.
- EPS has been visiting staff and will continue to do so as requested and Emily has been working on visiting with the team one-on-one as well.
Programming pause
We will continue to do our baseline of services and programs, but taking a break from big new events that tie up staff time and resources. Summer Reading – the theme might be new but the practice of offering fun programming during the summer relating to the themes are not new to our libraries so summer programming should still be offered. There will be a formal document coming out to help staff understand all of this as well.
OBPE – Outcome Based Planning and Evaluation
The cabinet will work on an external library factors worksheet as it relates to teens system and county wide (we’ll focus on individual communities in the future) and EPS will work on the internal library factors. Some factors may not be as applicable to teens but we can adapt as needed. Engagement managers can include staff with this process.
The teen cabinet will start gathering information and meet in two weeks.
