Manager Comments:
I think this is a good program and good idea. My one piece of feedback would be to remember the library's goals. Focus on market penetration and member retention. This will be a good way to spark interest in library services--how will you transition them into being regular library users?

Thanks to The Village Library and Crossings Community Center, you can receive assistance with everything from creating a resume and applying for a job, to understanding Microsoft Word. Program Justification
Is a program the best way to meet the expressed need or present information?:
Yes
Does the program fit the goals of the MLS?:
Yes
How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?:
This program is directly helping to meet our Mission, as we are educating members of the community. In addition, we are reaching out to the community as a whole through an alternate venue. The Crossings Community Center reaches out to those in our community who are struggling through free/low-cost clinics. These are often the community members who need our help the most! By reaching out those who may visit the clinic but not the library, we will also be doing interreach to help reach our goal of every person using a library service by 2035.
Which Strategic Plan Response/Goals does this program meet?:
Satisfy Curiosity: Your libraries are centers that offer access to civic, cultural and community enrichment opportunities.
Why will this program be successful?:
There is a dire need in our community particularly for computer classes. Many of our regular visitors do not have computers at home (as confirmed by me through regular conversation), and cannot afford one. Yet, they need access to the internet to apply for jobs, apply for benefits, etc. But without a computer at home, they end up unable to complete applications, forms, etc. without significant assistance (which we are not able to provide due to the high volume of visitors we receive at our branch). By offering free computer classes, members will be able to further their knowledge. In addition, I already have a list of 4-5 people who want to be called about the classes, and in addition, I have received many requests for a regular computer class.
How will success be measured/determined?:
Attendance, primarily. Both Crossings Community Center and the Village Library need a certain number of attendees at the classes to prove that the classes are worthwhile. However, attendee feedback will also be welcomed.
Program Engagement

Marketing

Is sufficient time available to have a Info Magazine Listing?:
No
Is sufficient time available to request MaC materials and display them for at least 2 weeks (45 days)?:
No

Community Engagement

How will you promote this event to the community?:
Up-sell the event with customers (verbally or with printed Marketing pieces)
Other
If you selected, "Other" please explain:
At this time, we will not be doing the primary marketing. Crossings Community Center and Jeremiah, the director of the facility, will be taking care of it. However, this may change. Ideally word-of-mouth will be enough to keep the classes full, but if not, we can reconsider advertising at the libraries.
What library resources and services will you connect to this program?:

Book display, ideally. I would like to bring a small selection of materials with me to allow people to check them out.

Are volunteers needed?:
No

Supplies

Are supplies needed?:
No supplies are needed for this particular program.
Final Comments:
While I am submitting a PPC, the program is primarily being run by Crossings Community Center. I am volunteering my efforts as an employee of the library, and will be "volunteering" during my Wednesday evening shifts.
