Discussion:

At the last meeting, the committee discussed the possibility of adding the Security Manager to the committee as a permanent position.  That change would require a revision to the policy and was pending approval of the Executive Director.

It was decided not to change the current composition of the committee which is: Deputy Executive Director of Library Operations, Director of Facilities Maintenance, Director of Human Resources, Benefits Specialist, Headquarters Manager, and three at-large members selected from the X-Change Committee.
The Security Manager will be invited to attend meetings from time to time when there is a need to address specific security issues with the committee.

Denise shared results of safety training statistics for 2011.  As of the end of the year, we are 100% compliant for new hires and 99.36% compliant for 4th quarter required training.

There were four Worker’s Comp reported injuries for 2011 plus one case that was re-opened for further treatment in October.

During the last meeting, the committee reviewed the section of the safety policy regarding restrictions or limitations recommended by the employee’s physician following an illness or injury.  The procedure does not define light duty and leaves some question about what is considered light duty and who should be involved in determining when the employee can return to work.

After discussion, Denise and Kay will meet to revise this procedure and report at the next safety committee meeting.

A tour of the Edmond facility followed discussions.  The committee found the following deficiencies:

  1. The Mechanical Room door latch is taped so the door will not secure.
  2. Fire Extinguisher inspections are two months out of date.
  3. Safety Manual has not been updated with 2012 information.

Patrick will follow up with the person assigned to perform the fire extinguisher inspections and insure they are done immediately.

We will follow up with Melody about the door and the manual updates to make those corrections.

Meeting adjourned:  11:30am
Next meeting:  April 10, 2012 – 10:00am – Location TBD.
