On the fifth day of MyMetrolibrary, I'll discuss the 'News & Media' section.  On the old Intranet, there was not a space where all news and media could reside.  Now, we do!  The 'News & Media' is a depository of system-wide correspondence, publications, and visual media.  Let’s take a closer look:

When you first click on the 'News & Media' tab, you arrive at the hub of news and publications for our library system.  First you’ll see the most recent internal news releases.  These releases can range from important correspondence from the Executive Director to new service we are offering.  On the left, you’ll see quick links to the publications on our site and directly below it, a listing of the most recently added publications.

You can also find:

  • Internal Press Release – Contains recently added internal press releases and an archive of past releases.
  • MLS News – Aggregated content taken from the News, Construction, and eMedia RSS feeds of metrolibrary.org.  The great thing about the aggregated RSS feeds is that anytime new content is added on any of those RSS feeds, it will be updated on MyMetrolibrary automatically!
  • Publications & Newsletters – Provides a listing of internal and professional newsletters we subscribe to.  They include:
    • CAP Journal – provided by our Integris Corporate Assistance Program.
    • Commission Packet
    • info Magazine
    • Service Principle Newsletter
    • ShelfLife
    • Training Times
    • WellNet Healthcare Newsletter – provided by WellNet Interactive
  • Marketing Resources - Here is what you can find:
    • MaC Supply Catalog – Order promotional supplies from Marketing (more information on how to order coming soon)
    • MaC Production Art Catalog – A listing of production art requests completed by Marketing.  This way, you can see examples of previous creations so they can make something super special for your library or program!
    • MaC Project Request Form – Use this form to make project requests.   All project requests are due 30 days prior to advertising for the event.
    • Business Card Order Form – A new form created for business cards.
    • Database Resources – A listing of database resources for internal and external customers.
    • Downloads (posters, logos, and more) – Downloads of posters, flyers, and logos for your library or location!
    • Forms & Documents – Forms and Documents created by Marketing
    • Program Templates – Marketing has created templates for your library location to use without having to request artwork from their department.  All you would need to do is download these files in either Microsoft Word or Publisher format and update with your events information, print and you’re done!
    • Info Magazine
    • ShelfLife
  • Photos & Images – This section is only accessible with a site login.  We have integrated our new Flickr account right into MyMetrolibrary.  Anytime new albums or photos are added, they will be added automatically to MyMetrolibrary!
  • Videos – A media player with all of our great videos, commercials, and more!  Please note, some videos are only accessible with site login (don’t worry, we’ll cover that soon!)
  • Tags – Seen linked words at the bottom of content throughout the site?  Well, those are Tags. Web Services has combined all of the tags used on our site into one location in case you want to explore content based on a specific tag.

Wow, isn't our News & Media section awesome!  The great thing about this particular section is, it’s always growing!  News and publications are frequently added and now you’ll have up-to-date information as it is released right on our Intranet!
