Virtual Library to launch on Monday, Sept. 11

The Virtual Library (the group formerly known as the Call Center/Virtual Library and Library On [the] Line) will go live on Monday, September 11. In addition to answering calls made to 405.231.8650 (i.e. the Downtown Library), we'll respond to messages received via various email accounts (Ask a Librarian, Circ Control, etc.), comments posted at metrolibrary.org, and messages received through our social media channels. Greeting our members will be the dulcet-toned group of Jessica Moad, McKinzey Manes, Craig Wolf, and me. Basically, it's going to be like having Boyz II Men responding to the public. Yeah, it'll be that dulcet-toned.

The plan for the VL is to eventually answer the publicly published phone number for all Metro Libraries but we've yet to establish a timeline for this project. That will become clearer as we get a firmer grasp on the amount of traffic we'll experience from week to week. All of us here in the VL are excited for this undertaking and we hope you are too.

Congrats!

Am I correct in assuming you'll be singing the on-hold music yourselves?

re: congrats!

It'll be the actual Boyz II Men doing the music. That Geico commercial coin only goes so far.
