Day 2

Staff:

On the second day using the MyMetrolibrary, I will introduce you to the ‘About MLS’ section of the new Intranet.  MyMetrolibrary has been developed with an improved navigation format to help you find the information you need.   Basically, the ‘About MLS’ section will provide information pertaining to the overall system, including:

  • Administrative Directives – listing of administrative memos and staff specific procedures.
  • Commission – overview of the Commission and listing of the most recent Commission Packets, Commissioner Directory (can be filtered by committee), calendar of upcoming Commission meetings, links to full Commission Packet history, and a breakdown of the Commission Committees.
  • Committees – listing of all active MLS committees and the most recently posted committee minutes.   If you select a particular committee, you will be redirected to that committee’s landing page.  Each committee page contains a link for e-mailing the committee, a calendar of the upcoming meetings, a link to the committee forum, archive of meeting minutes, and a resources section.  The meeting minutes have been converted to a text format so you no longer have to open multiple windows to read committee minutes.  This will also improve search functionality if you ever need to use it.
  • Policies and Procedures – listing of all Policies and Procedures for our library system plus a listing of the most recently added or updated Policies and Procedures. You can select any of the new or updated policies or dive in deeper by using the Policy buttons.  Just like the meeting minutes, the Policies and Procedures information has been converted to a text format so you won’t have to open multiple windows to find the information you need and it helps our search functionality tremendously!  When viewing a Policy there will be a navigation list to the right containing the other policies and procedures in the same category for reference.  If you scroll down you’ll see a Previous Versions & Supporting Files section.  We’ve put this section together to show the history of our P&P and provide them in different formats.    We’ve also included a ‘tag’ section - don’t worry, I’ll cover tagging in future update e-mails.
  • Strategic Plan – includes the Strategic Plan video, overview of the Strategic Plan, and a listing of the Strategic Plan Goals.  Strategic Plan Highlights can now be filtered by ‘Goal’ or ‘Date’ and an online contribution form makes it easier for you to contribute to this great list.  The page also contains links to other Strategic Plan projects and documents.
  • Service Principles – your one stop shop for everything dealing with the Service Principles and Daily Link.   Also included is a calendar featuring a principle per day and a link to the Service Principles Newsletter.  There is also a newly created Daily Link Library and instructions on how you can contribute to this library.
