Day 11
These are the great things you can do with your login. Let’s get started!
Forum
As you may have noticed MyMetrolibrary is equip with a built-in user forum. Currently, you can access the main forum by going to Staff > Forum. There you’ll see some general forums:
- General Discussion
- Classifieds
- Recipes
- Wellness Works
- and More
Each of these forums has topics which anyone can create a new topic and posts which are comments to the topics. For instance under the Recipes section, there is a topic for Soups, anyone who posts under Soups will have a post of their reply. It’s that simple!
You’ll also notice that each of our communities have their own forum as well as some other groups such as the Staff Association and MetroU Mentors. There are “hidden” topics under each of these for just those of the committee and those other specialized groups. However, you can create a new topic under any of these to ask questions. A good example would be to post a new topic under YA Services for Teen Read Month that you might have a question about. Then, anyone in the system can reply back.
If you belong to any committee, go in and you can see a “Committee Talk” topic. This topic is only for those of your committee. Information posted on a forum is public and you should use discretion on what is posted. As I used to say to my students, if you wouldn't want the word to see what you posted, you shouldn't post it!
Comments
Comments are another great interactive feature built into MyMetrolibrary. Have a question about something you read in the meeting minutes or on one of our publications? Now, you can ask your question right within MyMetrolibrary. Just the same as with the user forum, we ask that you to only post appropriate questions - Ask yourself how you would feel if someone asked you the same question.
Shopping Cart
The Shopping Cart integrates the Marketing Promotional Supply Catalog, Volunteer Recognition Items, and the Tech Processing Supply Catalog. To place a supply order for one of those catalogs, please visit Resources > Supplies. Click on any of the three catalogs listed above and then click the category you wish to order supplies. Then, click Add to Cart, repeat as necessary and once you’re ready to check out, click the Checkout button. If you aren’t signed in, it will ask for your username/password combo to login. After you’re logged in, just fill out the Delivery Information and Review Order. If everything looks okay, just click the Submit button. Then, your information will be sent to the respected party and your order will be fulfilled. You’ll also receive an email confirmation of your order. Now, you can order from any of those catalogs at the same time!!!
Lending Library
The MetroU Lending Library has also gone through an update. First, we ask that you log into MyMetrolibrary to check out from the Lending Library. Then you can visit Staff > MetroUniversity > Lending Library. Just like the Forms and Documents pages, the Lending Library has a built-in search that will allow you to narrow down your search results by keywords. Once you’ve found the title you wish to check out, click the Reserve Link. You’ll notice the Reserve link changes to Checked Out if the title is no longer available for Reserve. You will receive an email confirmation of your Lending Library request and Planning Services will route your title(s) to you via interagency mail.
So as you can see, there are several benefits to using your MyMetrolibrary login.
