Since we have so many vacancies to fill with our new position mapping, will we soon have a more definite job description/requirements for the positions? Looking at both the drafts I feel like at least with the Access Manager I, there should be more clarification since it is a completely new title/position.
Thanks!
Yes. When we are ready to hire a position, we post the completed, thorough job description to the Metro jobs page. If you'd like to see an example of the difference between the brief job descriptions we wrote for the alignment and the completed job postings we use to recruit/hire - you can compare the data for the system-wide children's, teen and adult services manager positions using the following links:
Brief job descriptions for alignment: http://my.metrolibrary.info/drupal/sites/default/files/documents/Brief%2...

I hope this helps.
Michele
I have combed through both the mapping and the draft and am trying to piece everything together. I do feel at a disadvantage at the time since I do not have a bachelors degree. I really hope that there will be a way for me to move up given my experience not just having a degree.
Hi Sarah -- I definitely understand where you are coming from. I did not go straight through college after high school. I started working full time and then went back and finished my degree later. I know it is frustrating to feel qualified for a position and not be eligible because of not having your degree.
Did you notice that the ASM I positions are now posted and the requirements have changed? They only require a HS diploma/GED and five years' library experience. According to Michele's email today, that change was made so more staff would be eligible for the position.
I hope you are able to apply and if you ever would like to talk about going back to school, I would be happy to talk about my experiences. I created a nontraditional student's group at my alma mater, the University of Texas at Austin, and it is something I am very passionate about.
Best of luck!
Andrea
