Learning Experiences

I apologize for the repeat if this topic was already brought up in another thread.

I'm wondering what's going on with Learning Experiences since there wasn't a CLXO hired. I see that the system-wide supervisor positions (children, teen, adult) have been posted but, according to the timeline, those of us who map into this department were supposed to have been told our assignments on Friday when everyone else got theirs. As far as I can tell, we are the only staff who are waiting to hear. Is there a reason for that? Are we just running a little behind and I need patience(lol)?

I'm also very curious about the transition of OUT to LE in the middle of Summer Reading. There wasn't a work group and with no CLXO and SRP coming up verryyy quickly, I'm concerned.

Also, it's worth mentioning that I'm super excited for all of this to be wrapped up and for everyone to get started in their new roles! It's just really hard for me to not know what's going on with my position.

LX Mapping and Hiring

Hi Bridget, and thanks for the question .... I have to admit -- I screwed up ... I thought the schedule had us sharing the mapping this week with the non-Members Services staff, not last week ... apologies! While we had it done last week, I was thinking we were only releasing the Member Services info last week and leaving the rest of the mappings for this week ... Obviously, I was wrong -- sorry about that -- didn't mean to leave you hanging.
I will get them out later today.

As for the hiring, we're moving forward with the interviews for the system-wide managers (Children Teen, Adult) so that we're not just sitting on our hands. Once hired, this group can begin researching and planning the variety of projects on their plates. We will also continue looking for the CLXO , and add him/her to the team when filled.

The transition during SRP shouldn't be a huge problem ... SRP is well planned and ready to launch, and the CLXO will have only a passing involvement this year. As in past years, the library staff will be responsible for the SRP functions, and while there will be a few upheavals here and there, the managers should be able to keep things on an even keel. For those moving to LX (like the Library Events Coordinators), I would imagine that you will still carry out many of your previous SRP responsibilities even after you start the transitioning process. We talked to the Library Managers and Assistant Managers last week and clarified that the transition is NOT a switch ... it's a process ... it will take time for us to work through the kinks. So, although -- as the work plan says -- you (in LX) will start the transition on May 30th, that transition process will run through December. At that point we can consider the process over.

Hope that helps ... Also, if you haven't seen it, you might take a look at the update I wrote for April 24th ... http://my.metrolibrary.info/drupal/timtalks/alignment-update-april-24-2017

Thanks again ...

-Tim

Thank you for the speedy

Thank you for the speedy reply! Thinking of it as a gradual transition has eased my mind considerably.

I feel inclined to say there's no rush, but I'm dying to find out!

Thanks again - to the whole Alignment team - for being quick to respond to the questions you have answers for and just as quick to admit when there isn't one yet (for all of the impatient people like me :) ).
