Most of the workgroups have completed their tasks and have submitted their reports to the Alignment Project Committee for consideration. Before the APC begins to use these recommendations, we wanted to give all staff the opportunity to review them and provide feedback and comments. You may recall that the Beyond the Walls Workgroup was asked to:
- Define the services, product lines, or experiences being offered. For example, what is Books by Mail? Book Center? Community Outreach? What will be considered Large Scale Events to be handled by BTW?
- Review and recommend any programming or instruction to be coordinated by this new division.
- Describe how Beyond the Walls could help the system advance its ten initiatives in Library Unbound.
- Describe how Beyond the Walls could work and who it would serve, taking into consideration any system relationships that need to be maintained or developed.
- Assess the staff needed to support Beyond the Walls – FTE and specific jobs, considering whether there are there enough staff to operate BTW or if there are more staff than needed.
- Review the draft organizational chart and determine how well it supports the expected needs and outcomes being recommended for Beyond the Walls.
- List the expected space, equipment, and technology needs of Beyond the Walls.
