Revised GOAL New Hire Orientation

Yesterday, July 24th, we had our latest new hire orientation here at DN. We tried a new format that we hope is less 'overwhelming' and more of an 'introduction' to the library system. We changed up the order of the day and also included a lunch on-site where we asked Donna to join us and give a quick overview of the organization & our culture. Denyvetta and Kay also stopped in and introduced themselves to the group (all four of the employees will be working in a library location).

Future sessions will also have a on-site lunch with either Donna or one of the Deputy Executive Directors joining the group. Other Administrative Team members may also be asked to join based on the makeup of the new hires.

Human Resources is working on establishing a Employee Handbook which will make the current 'manual' obsolete and standardize the information being presented at each session. Employees will no longer receive the P&P on a disk as they have in the past.

For some of you, GOAL happened recently; for others it may have been a long time since you went through a new hire orientation. I would like to know what you think should be included in this session (what did you NOT know when you reported to your location?). What did you like about your orientation session?

I appreciate your feedback!!

Love it!

Hi All!

I was at the orientation on Monday, and of course have nothing to compare it to, but I really enjoyed it. The day flowed well and the amount of information was perfect. I definitely felt more comfortable coming to my library with a little bit of history as well as explanation of the policies, etc. It is always nice to know what is expected of you when starting a new job.

Thank you for the great day Stacy, Roy and Andrew!
