Construction Updates - October 16, 2013
- Almonte - During a meeting with the City of Oklahoma City on October 15th, the funding for the future Almonte Library was mentioned and as of October 16, 2013, the next Oklahoma City Bond Election is scheduled for 2019.
- Belle Isle -October 15th, The City of OKC and the Metropolitan Library System discussed the different options for adding parking at the Belle Isle Library. It was suggested that the work may be isolated from the construction renovation work and could possibly start earlier.
- Capitol Hill - The Programming Report is to be submitted to the City of Oklahoma City and MLS on October 16, 2013. The report will include the Space Needs Recap, copies of the proposed site schemes and their associated budgets. It will also recommend purchase of the land needed for the work. Todd believes with this at hand, the process is expected to take up to 10 months to begin.
- Del City - Del City is moving forward with site selection, which is expected to be complete by the end of November. The Construction Department is working on scheduling several MLS Library tours.
- Downtown - Todd is expected to receive a report on during the week of October 21st regarding the leaks at the Downtown Library. The ultimate goal of this report is to allow the City to develop funding options and a plan to correct the leaks.A set of drawings is to be issued on October 18th of the Park Avenue / 180 Project for the Construction Department’s review.
- Edmond Parking - Discussions continue with the City of Edmond regarding additional parking. Edmond is working on a draft letter outlining a proposal which would close Jackson Street, providing an anticipated space for 17 parking spaces. This letter will be reviewed at the next meeting set for October 18th.
- Edmond 2 - Edmond is looking at a process to update their Capital Projects List which is expected to begin early 2014.
Donna is invited to make a brief presentation to Edmonds’ City Council Strategic Plan Workshop on November 2nd to discuss the need for libraries and why MLS need a second Edmond Library. - Northwest - A final inspection of sorts was conducted on October 10th. Atlas has requested the project be considered 100%. Installation of the audio system is scheduled to start November 11th and should be complete before Thanksgiving. The City of Oklahoma City has offered to secure pricing to install the new lights in the Program Room.
- Ralph Ellison - Todd believes the vexing “scupper” (overflowing roof drain issue) was fixed on October 9th.

I was curious what the issue was with the NW Program Room lights that new ones are being installed, if anyone knows.

Thanks for the question.
To be more accurate, my statement should have read “we are looking at installing additionally lights in the NW Program Room”. The existing lights will remain. We are adding lights because the room has proved to be too dark for many programs.
