It says it's a closed group. Are we allowed to join, or is it just for SA reps?

I emailed the group creator, Tim Rice and this was his reply-"So far I've kept the group closed since it is easier to accept requests for membership than it is to remove random non-employees who would join with a single click if it were set to open. Anyone who wants to join just needs to request membership."
