Sharing your story

You've probably seen the section on our website where customers have shared the story of their library experience. The New York Public Library recently embraced this idea by installing a couple of photo booths in their libraries so visitors could share their library experience. After taking a photo, the person selects why they were in the library on that particular visit from a menu of options, where they are from, and enters their email address so they can be sent a copy of the photo. The photo is branded by NYPL, adding the person's selected activity to the photo, and then it is automatically uploaded to NYPL's Flickr account:
I think this is a neat idea! What do you think? Could you envision Metro using something like this?

What a wonderful idea to both promote the library as well as really making the customers feel like a part of it. I could definitely see MLS putting something like this to good use. It is so simple, yet powerful and gives the customer a long-lasting memory that they could post anywhere (facebook, etc.) further promoting the benefits of the library.
I absolutely love this idea! It's a fabulous and unique way to really encourage community participation at the library. I recently moved to the area from Chicago, where I worked at Oak Park Public Library. While there I was able to serve on a planning committee for the library's Idea Box: http://oppl.org/events/idea-box. Essentially, the Idea Box is a "dedicated 19’ x 13’ space that each month provides a new and dynamic participatory community experience. Visitors are encouraged to learn through tinkering, fun, experimentation and play." The Idea Box was a huge hit and a customer favorite! I have only been here a short time, but I can definitely envision our talented Metro staff thinking of creative and exciting ideas that might help encourage our customers to interact with our space in new ways. Thanks for sharing Tim!
Yes, let's do it!
A picture says a thousand words. These pictures say 1,001.
ohhhh! This such a fun idea. I "think" I'm kind of in charge of this project - I'm new so need to confirm, but I'll see what I can do to make this happen.
And Oak Park! My sister lives in Oak Park on Highland Drive right off of Austin Blvd. Small world. :)
Love it! Thanks, Tim!
