Summer Reading - promoted to a tv/radio station, newspaper, mall near you!
I wanted to share just a few of the cool Summer Reading promotions and advertising we’ll be doing for the summer! This isn't all inclusive ... we'll be adding more fun things throughout the summer. And you know we'll be all over social media! As a matter of fact, if you shared some of these videos to your social media page today, you'll help us get a jump start! Just hover over the paper airplane icon to share!
TV:
Starting earlier this week, we began running a new Summer Reading commercial on Cox Communications & U-Verse. Not only does the commercial encourage signup, but it promotes the benefits of reading 20 minutes a day… “It can make you smarter, faster, stronger!” This is airing on
HGTV, the History channel, FOOD Network, Discovery and ESPN. (See actual schedule below). We might also run this on ABC, NBC and CBS. A similar version may also run on Telemundo.

Radio:
We’ll be running these two radio spots on KJ-103, 98.9 KISS, KMGL, the Twister, Jake FM, Wild FM, KOMA, and KVSP. A similar version will also run on LaZ 106.7. Which one is your favorite? The Whistling one or the Upbeat Tempo one?

Print Ads:
Ads promoting both Summer Reading and Neighborhood Arts are already running in the OKC Gazette, OKC Friday and Metro Family magazine.
Penn Square Mall:
Thanks to a generous grant from the Friends of the Library, the center court of Penn Square Mall will be decked out in June and the first two weeks in July. The entire wall of the escalators will be about Summer Reading Heroes at the library. I’ll try to go out there this weekend and take a pic.
Newspaper Coverage:
If you didn’t read last week's summer reading article in the Edmond Sun--featuring our amazing children’s librarian, Amy Thomas of Edmond -- scroll below to read it in all of it’s awesome-ness! Also, in this weekend’s Oklahoman, writer Brandy McConnell will be covering fun things to do in the summer and will highlight the Neighborhood Arts programs and many of our Summer Reading science events. And, next Friday’s front page of the OKC Friday will focus on our Summer Reading program, too.
Stay tuned throughout the summer for more stories in the papers about the Read It Forward aspect and more! (And, if you would ever like to know just how many times there is editorial coverage about our libraries and our library programs, let me know! We keep daily stats of those. FYI.. just from May 4-27, we were covered more than 30 times in area newspapers! Here’s a sampling: the Village Fair in the OKC Friday, the Lawyers in the Library program in the Journal Record, the Nicest Nazi Author Talk in the Edmond Sun, Belle Isle’s Jim Garling performance in the Oklahoman, the Talk of the Town Orchestra performing at the Choctaw Library in the Oklahoman, and more!

I like both The Whistling one and the Upbeat Tempo one.
I like them both, but the dance beat makes me want to move!! Great job, MAC!
I enjoyed listening to both. The Upbeat Tempo made me move & groove in my chair so I must say, it is "My Favorite". Well Done!
My 2 cents: Both spots are good but may appeal to different ages groups. As someone from the over 50 set, in the Whistling spot it is easier to hear the voice over/message. The Upbeat spot seems to grab attention like it is going to be the intro to a song but I had to really tune in to hear the message.
Thanks for your feedback!
