Great changes in store for Zinio!

  1. One Account – New customers only need to create a SINGLE account to checkout and read their magazines (i.e. they no longer need to create an additional Zinio.com account!)
  2. Current users may continue to use the Zinio.com app to manage their collection. If you have purchased magazines from Zinio.com, you may still access them along with magazines you have checked out from Metro Library by using the Zinio.com app. The Zinio.com app will continue to be available for iPhone, Kindle Fire HD/HDX, Windows, and Mac.
  3. NEW Zinio for Libraries App – Unlike the Zinio.com app, this new app shows only the magazines from Metro Library and there is no option to buy magazines from Zinio.com. You can use this app to download and read magazines offline.
    • Currently available for iPad (in the App Store) and Android (in the Play Store) devices
    • Coming soon for iPhone and Kindle Fire HD/HDX devices
  4. Updated HTML5 Viewer for Windows/Mac – Read magazines in an updated layout in your web browser (NO need to download the Zinio for Libraries app).
    • Compatible with Windows – IE10+, Chrome and Firefox
    • Compatible with Mac – Safari, Chrome and Firefox
  5. You can now manage your magazine collection from http://zinio.metrolibrary.org – You are no longer required to leave our site and go to Zinio.com to manage your collection!
  6. Expanded Browse and Manage Display – You may now set your search preference to view 16, 40, or 100 magazines at a time and you can view magazines by cover or list view.

These changes remove the need to visit the Zinio.com website, which was always a confusing step in the process of checking out magazines, and they should make using our Zinio collection much easier!

FANTASTIC!

This is great news! Thanks for the update, Tim.

Wonderful!

This will be great for customers! I know the old way could be pretty confusing, even for library staff.

easier zinio!

this will be great for all our customers! I use zinio myself and have found it just slightly annoying that because I have the account with them, sometimes I get emails asking me to buy magazines. I know our customers, who probably get the same emails, will like not being nagged to buy magazines anymore! thanks for the info, tim!

re: easier

I, too, hope this will stop those emails but in case it doesn't, you can sign in to your account at zinio.com & make those changes yourself to opt out of receiving those emails.

zinio

tim, I'm finding that when I pull up a magazine to read, part of the pages are blacked out. I cant figure out why or how to get them back. is this something at our end or should I check with zinio technical services to see why this is happening. its not just advertising pages. some of the pages I would want to read are blacked out, also.

RE: Sandra

My first guess as the culprit in this (and nearly every other tech-related instance) is Internet Explorer. I assume that's the browser you're using? Try clearing the cache & history to see if that helps.

Great!

Checking it out now!

Question

I signed in under my account and all the items I had stored are gone. Do we need to start all over again and make a new account and download the new app?

re:

No, you don't need to create a new account. When I signed in at http://zinio.metrolibrary.org then clicked the My Collection link at the top of the page, it showed me all of the magazines I have checked out. Did you try this & if so & if all of the magazines you have checked out aren't there, click the question mark at the top of the page to contact Zinio's tech support about your missing magazines.
