..just throw in the towel. There's none better than Buddy Johnson.
I appreciate the vast knowledge that Buddy has about our state's history. Even more so I appreciate his gracious sharing of his knowledge and expertise. Many times I have referred Oklahoma questions to him and he never fails to meet the customers' need. His articles and stories are always interesting, informative and fun to read. I've included his work as an author in my personal library. The Metropolitan Library System is fortunate to have a librarian of his caliber. Congratulations Buddy.
Buddy's pretty darn awesome! He never has a long face ... nay. ;)
I worship at the feet of Buddy! Not only is he a good friend, but he is a treasure trove of information. When I made the transition from cataloger to DN librarian, he helped me get familiar with the reference collection, online databases, customer idiosyncrasies, the labyrinthine concourse, and more. If there is ever a zombie apocalypse, I want to be near Buddy (because he has so much more brains!) Congrats, library champ!
... just about describes Buddy Johnson. Librarian, historian, author, friend, family man, colleague, sportsman, raconteur, bon vivant, and future ex-patriot, he's a one-man-library and definitely a champion. I've know Buddy from my first day at MLS (we were hired the same day!) and I've always know him as a true servant of the people of Oklahoma City and a true friend. Congrats for a well-deserved accolade.
Buddy really is the best to work with! And this picture is just awesome. Congratulations, Buddy!
I co-sign Jim Nimmo's sentiments: Buddy is the best in the business. Sadly, his beloved Tottenham Hotspur will likely never win a championship in his or any of our lifetimes, so I am especially glad he will have this exhilarating experience of lifting a trophy!
You are a tremendous asset to the system! Thank you for being such a Champ!
I especially love the photobombing horse!
Buddy Johnson--an incredible mentor, librarian, historian, and friend. Thank you for all that you do!
Exactly, Jessica!
Exactly, Jessica!
Have no idea why this posted twice and it won't let me delete it so therefore....... this is entirely a true statement lol
One of a kind guy and he is nice enough to chauffeur me, too!
There isn't much more that I can add to the already expressed sentiments . . . I am awed by the breadth of his knowledge and there isn't anyone I would ask about OKC history other than Buddy. Congratulations library champ!
Congrats, Buddy!
What did you do to summon that horse spirit? Is it going to be haunting us upon our return?
Buddy is a true Renaissance man.
Congratulations Buddy! I still have the video of your presentation to a group of Pre/AP students a few years back - awesome job! You're a true asset to the library system and all who have the joy of working with you.
More than a champion! Buddy is a jewel!
Well deserved!
Buddy is such a legend! And fabulous to work with-- insanely knowledgeable, always warm & welcoming, and one of the most interesting people I know to talk to. Congrats on the recognition!
Congratulations Buddy!
You deserve this trophy because you are always nice and friendly and very smart. You are also a great SUPERVISOR! Can you tell that I am sucking up. :) But seriously...congratulations to you!
Buddy, you really are amazing. You set a wonderful example of what it means to be a librarian with your expertise, customer service and professionalism.
I will always remember the day Downtown that you were on leave and a customer asked a difficult Oklahoma question. When we were stumped we decided to call the Oklahoma History Center. We were all so proud when they advised us to call Buddy Johnson at the library as he was the best resource they could suggest.
Thank you for making us all look good!
Buddy,
You are just nice! Thank you! Nice goes a long way in this world! You deserve this.

I will always appreciate the time and effort Buddy spent training me on the reference desk and his help with an oral history project. Thanks for being such a great mentor Buddy! I am a better librarian because of it!

Clearly we all love Buddy! :)
A genuinely nice and friendly person in addition to all
the wonderful things already said about you.
Thank you for sharing your Oklahoma expertise with all. Although your humility can be annoying on occasion (wish you would let the selectors know when you write a new book), it is otherwise quite charming. Please keep authoring those books; the customers love them, and so do we.
