Do the Kickoff and Exercise 101 seminars on May 24th and 25th count toward 2nd quarter safety training?
If you are scheduled to work on the date and time of the seminar you are attending, you may use the seminar as safety training (please get your supervisor's permission to attend).
If you are not scheduled to work at that time, a video of the seminar will be made available after May 25th for you to view during working hours for safety training. You may attend the seminar without being scheduled to work, but you will not receive credit for safety training.
I tested out the ActiPed and I loved it! I got a kick out of checking the website to find that I had done so many steps in my first hour! It also tracks your distance and calories burned. It fits well on most shoes. I did have a problem attaching it to my flats but Kasandra figured out how to place it so it didn’t hurt the top of my foot. She also recommended wearing a flat type of ankle bracelet and attaching the ActiPed to that. It tracked just as well as if I was wearing it attached to my shoe.
If anyone has any questions on how to use the ActiPed or questions on the challenge, don’t hesitate to ask me. I recommend doing the challenge. Count your steps to a healthy you!
how long does it take for the Actiped to come in? ordered mine the first day I saw this so 10 days ago. just wondering when to expect it.
Thanks...D
From the last day of registration (which is April 23rd) it will take about four weeks to get the ActiPeds. They will be sent to Wellness Works and we will distribute them in time for the Kickoff seminars.
Will it be shipped to our home?
Does the ActiPed have a replaceable battery? If so, what type of battery is it? How difficult is it to replace?
The ActiPed+ battery is replaceable. It takes a standard 3-volt lithium CR2032 battery (the flat "coin" style). They cost about $2 and can be purchased anywhere batteries are sold. One battery can last up to a year, depending on how active you are (a very active person may need to replace the battery every 4 months).
Replacing the ActiPed+ battery requires a small Phillips screwdriver and a few minutes of your time.
We do have a sample ActiPed+ available to view in the Human Resources office (DN, 3rd floor). You can also view the ActiLink, which is the USB stick that collects information from the ActiPed to Engage, the virtual progress tracker. Stop by any time between 7:30am and 4:30pm and we will be happy to show you!
Is every location going to have a flash stick to read the actipeds and does it have to marry with one particular computer or do we just have to plug it in one day a week on any computer and people just need to walk by it/plug it in?
Each ActiPed+ comes with its own ActiLink USB Access Point.
Your ActiLink will work with any computer that has the software installed on it. If you have a home computer (running Windows XP/Vista/7 or Mac OSX 10.4 - 10.6), you will be able to install the software and offload from home. At least one computer at each MLS location will have the ActiHealth software installed. Just plug the ActiLink into a computer where the software has been installed and walk around within a few feet of the ActiLink or tap the ActiPed+ on a hard surface to "wake it up." Your data will offload immediately thereafter.
You will receive more information on using your devices at the Kickoff seminars on May 24th and 25th!
I ordered my Actiped near the middle of April, and I haven't received it yet. I wouldn't be worried, but it starts tomorrow. Any suggestions?
The ActiPeds are here, but we are waiting on the ActiLinks to arrive before distributing. You can expect your ActiPed and ActiLink no later than Tuesday of next week (5/29/12). That should give you some time to get familiar with your devices before the challenge starts on June 4.
I still haven't gotten mine; should it be shipped to our homes or work?
Please check with your supervisor. Your ActiPed should have arrived in your location's money bag.
Thank you; I will!
My iPhone was able to access Engage through Safari, if that helps. I will contact FitLinxx (the ActiPed+ manufacturers) with your suggestion!
If I have been using my ActiPed before the challenge will I need to reset or "zero" it out before the challenge starts?
You don't have to do anything! When Personalized Prevention collects your steps, they will only pull data that was created after the challenge started. Challenge weeks start at
12:00 AM on Monday and end at 11:59 PM on Sunday.
Where can I offload my data?
During the first week of the challenge IT will be installing software on at least one computer at each library location. In the meantime, you can offload your data at home or anywhere you are able to install the software.
How do I get started setting up my ActiPed?
Please visit http://www.metrowellnessworks.com and click on either the Moveit Challenge Instructions or ActiPed User Guide to get started.
