Construction Updates - January 7, 2014

  • Capitol Hill
    • OKC & MLS continue to work on different options to strike a balance between budget, quality & quantity.   MLS met with OKC on 1/7/14 and they continue to meet internally to review funding options.  Todd anticipate the design work with begin the 1st part of March.
  • Choctaw
    • The Choctaw staff have expressed a desire to explore how some quiet study rooms could be added.
  • Del City
    • Demolition of the bowling alley is scheduled to begin this month.
    • Del City and MLS are working on an A-E selection process, the A-E Request for Qualifications (RFQ), the Preliminary Program Requirements, and the Del City / MLS Project Agreement.  CON is working on a draft document.
    • The 1st MLS Design Team meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 1/9 to review the preliminary program requirements.
  • Downtown
    • 180 Project – Park Avenue
      • A copy of the 95% plans are to be submitted to MLS for review at the end of January
    • Water Leaks Report – OKC & MLS are still working on how to respond to the report issued by Studio   
  • Edmond Parking
    • In late November, St. Mary’s Church met with Edmond and agreed in principle to the idea of adding a driveway from the rock house to 1st Street.  Since then, MLS has been meeting every 2 weeks.
    • On 1/6/14, Edmond released Jim Davis Architects to develop a proposed scope of work, preliminary plans and a probable cost estimate.  This work is to be completed by February 14, 2014  
    • It is expected that Edmond will ask the library to help financially and that this request will be presented to the MLC in March
    • If all is approved, design work would start shortly thereafter and construction could start as early as August 4, 2014.
  • Edmond 2
    • In an attempt to relieve some of the pressure on the Edmond Library, the City of Edmond and MLS continue to explore options for providing some services at an alternate location. 
  • Jones
    • Work continues on the Design Development plans.
  • Northwest
    • Installation of the audio video system is complete and final training for NW Staff is scheduled for January 8th.
    • The installation of the additional lights in the Children’s Program Room was scheduled for the week of January 6th EXCEPT we don’t have the light fixtures.  The CON office is working to get a firm ship date.
    • OKC continues to work with MLS to secure pricing for the replacement of the bollards.
    • MLS continues to work with OKC on outstanding Warranty issues
    • Studio has submitted final Design Development plans for the NW Monumental sign.  MLS and OKC are reviewing.
  • Southern Oaks
    • Discussions with OKC continued on 1/7/14 about adding a sidewalk along Walker.

Is the door on the 1st floor of the west side of the downtown library going to be accessible by employees? When will that be available?
