Readers' Advisory on Steroids

A recent article in Public Libraries showed how the staff at the Pikes Peak Library District are using a more creative, engaging form of readers' advisory via Reading Maps. These maps provide suggestions across the various formats in the library's collection, e.g. databases, movies, books, photographs, etc, and do so in a captivating format using Prezi (think a souped up, cloud-based version of PowerPoint). Here's a reading map they created for the book "Between Shades of Gray" (fair warning: Prezi's transitions between sections might make you dizzy so feel free to look away at that time):
I think this is a wonderfully creative way to provide RA to customers. What do you think?

That is a lot of information! Pretty awesome.
Thanks for sharing this Tim. I am a big fan of Prezi and love the idea of using it as a tool to provide RA to our customers. These reading maps are fantastic...eye-catching and fun!
What an amazing piece of work! My Goodreads to-read list has just grown exponentially! This could be a great use of the digital sign at NW...or maybe a touch screen kiosk that customers could interact with to access a variety of reading maps (with links to reserve highlighted items in the catalog).
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed it and now want to read it. Like Jessica, I'm a big fan of Prezi; just had students at school complete biography book reports using it. Really enjoyed this presentation.
