Construction Updates - November 13, 2013

  • Capitol Hill - The Capitol Hill architect, Guernsey submitted a draft “Programming Report” to the City of Oklahoma City and MLS on October 17th which indicates that projected probable cost significantly exceeds the current budget.
The City of OKC and MLS continue to work on different options to strike a balance between budget, quality and quantity.

  • Downtown - Water Leaks – The City of Oklahoma City & MLS are continuing review of the draft report which was issued by Studio Architects on Tuesday, October 29th.

Park Avenue / 180 Project – The City of OKC & MLS met Thursday, October 31st to review the current plans.

    • The bus drop off has been persevered and will now be at “grade” – no curb.  Bollards will be added to protect pedestrians.
    • Two handicapped spaces have been provided, one at Hudson and one at Harvey.
    • The remaining issues are; phasing of the work (how is MLS assured of access during construction), the final sidewalk layout, landscaping and lighting.
    • The project is scheduled to bid in February and to be awarded in March.  The actual work in front of the library is scheduled for the spring 2015.

  • Edmond Parking - The City of Edmond issued a proposal to St Mary’s the week of October 28th that closes Jackson St. and the alley, providing space for about seventeen parking spaces.

Todd stated St. Mary’s response was favorable and a meeting is scheduled later this week to review the proposal in more detail.

  • Jones - The design process is moving forward and an updated schedule was issued.  A new exterior scheme is due later this week and design development plans are due December 16th.

Road work started the week of November 3rd.  There will be a “tin horn” or culvert installed under the road, this will help provide access to the library.

  • Northwest - Installation of the audio video system is scheduled to start on Monday, November 11th.

Additional lights in the Program Room have been ordered by the Metropolitan Library System and the City of Oklahoma City has issued the work order for their installation.  The work is scheduled for the week of January 6th.

The City of Oklahoma City is also working with MLS to secure pricing to replace the bollards.
