Our library will provide culturally enriching programs and activities which promote literacy and learning

• 2/14: Trip Around The World: over 60 attendees got a chance to learn about Australia
• 2/14: LEGO club members built castles using books from our collection as a guide
• 3/14: Dr. Seuss Birthday celebration: fun with books from a favorite children's author
• 4/14: Chicks and salsa! Aaron Reynolds author visits our library to talk about his craft
• 5/14: Whiz! Bang! Comic book creations: kids and teens draw and write their own superhero story
• 6/14: Pathology with the Museum of Osteology: customers have a chance to do hands-on work with skeletons, specimens, and forensics
• 7/14: Surviving the Zombie pandemic: allowed exploration of the science behind potential outbreaks and planning for emergencies
• 8/14: Rock and Read: children experienced lived music, exposure to instruments, exploration in dance, singing, and more
• 9/14: Family Art: kids and their familes learned about the art of Van Gogh
• 10/14: Roots of African American music: experience the rich history and complex evolution of African American music with Oklahoma Arts Council touring artists Adam and Kizzie Ledbetter
• 10/14: Cardboard Challenge: Inspired by Caine's Arcade and the 2014 Global Challenge, kids designed and built awesome creations like robots, castles, and costumes using cardboard, recycled materials and imagination
• 11/14: Art After School: lead by local artist Debbie Langston, kids made leaf mobiles
• 12/14: Reading and Homework Help: During 2014, we served 1395 students (plus their family members who come with them) and an average of 27 children per session
• 1/15: Parachute play: playtime at the library help children build social skills, promote learning, and discover the library is a place for fun
• 2/15: CH library features a Rhythmically Speaking presentation of "The Edwards: OKC's Entrepreneurial Pioneers!" for Black History Month, a play that highlights the role of a successful businessman who overcame strict segregation laws to build affordable housing for middle- and lower-income families.
• 3/15: The Reading Games: teens are invited to an edge-of-your-seat alternative to traditional studying
• 4/15: Egg-cellent Babies: gradeschoolers experience science in the shape of an egg as a staff member of the Oklahoma City Zoo demonstrates eggs of all shapes, sizes and colors.
