Staff Development / Empowerment - Competence

The extension specialist position requires a diverse skill set because they are generalist who do a little bit of everything (as opposed to more the more defined roles in the larger MLS locations). Because they do so much (customer service, circulation, reference, administration, programming, outreach, janitorial, etc.), we're working to ensure the highest level of competence in each area. That involves specialized training and creating support networks both inside and outside their workgroup. As a result, our team in better suited to serve every need of our customers and our library system.
