Scratch Lessons with Positive Tomorrows

Librarian, Jessica Gonzalez, led Scratch (scratch.mit.edu) lessons in the Downtown Computer Lab for 3rd-5th graders attending Positive Tomorrows. Scratch.mit.edu is a free website where children and teens can learn to program their own interactive stories, games, and animations. These creations can then be shared with others in an online community. Scratch is a project of the Lifelong Kindergarten Group at the MIT Media Lab. By creating programs through Scratch students have the opportunity to learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively. Students also learn that the library is a free space to access current technology and receive support from skilled librarians.
