Positive Tomorrows After-School Programming

Positive Tomorrows' Support Assistant & Extracurricular Activities Program Coordinator, Teri Barkus, reached out to Jessica Gonzalez, Librarian, to see about the possibility of having students visit the DN Library after school for various enrichment programs. Jessica welcomed the idea and created a schedule for grades K-5 that includes a rotation of the following programs: Art in the Afternoon, Board Games, Children Reading to Dogs, and LEGO Club. The majority of these programs encourage open play and all are focused on helping children build their social and fine motor skills. These programs also showcase the library as a welcoming, safe space and a destination for fun. Classes will visit the DN Library every Tuesday afternoon for programming led by Jessica or a skilled librarian.
