Ensure a Welcoming Experience

  • Replace worn furniture
    • Colorful lounge chairs - some with tablet arms for laptop use - were purchased in FY13 and located throughout the adult side of the library, replacing tattered, dirty chairs
    • New child-sized sofas were purchased for the children's area
    • Tables in Conference Room D were replaced with lighter tables that are easier to move
  • Replace and add directional signage  
    • End panel signs in adult section all updated with color coordinated template
    • New signage installed in fall 2014 to include Information and Customer Service signs at reference and circulation as well as updated Quiet Reading Room and Teen Space signs
    • Signage throughout the stacks being adjusted, updated, or removed
  • Rework adult side of library with different reference desk, public computers co-located, reorganized adult non-fiction and interfiled Reference collection
    • Director Donna Morris contracted with architect Denelle Washington
    • Three initial concepts presented to staff for review
    • Project currently idle due to other higher systemwide priorities
  • Improve workflow at Circulation desk 
    • The slots in the Circulation desk designed for materials return (but not suitable for a library with Edmond's circulation) were covered aesthetically to improve first impressions.
    • Architect Denelle Washington presented conceptual design to rework Circulation
    • Sorter and renovation work budgeted in FY15
    • With CarlX, changes made to work flow to accommodate one pay station and return
  • Public Computers

    • New computer software improves customer experience / ease of use when using public computers (fall 2014)

    • New touch-screen computers in children’s area provides a welcoming experience for many of our youngest customers
