Community involvement

The Capitol Hill Library will continue to be a dedicated presence in the South Oklahoma City area, and will show our dedication by our involvement with civic leaders and the surrounding community.
- 1/14: Staff attended "Pinata Party Day" at Lee Elementary to reward students who visited the library during their Christmas break
- 1/14: Jennifer Jones presented information on the CH homework help/tutoring and book giveaway to the Southside OKC Rotary Club
- 4/14: CH and OUT staff participate in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's Dia de los Ninos, giving away more than 700 books to children in the community
- 7/14: Jana Hausburg, manager, and Gloria Melchor, associate librarian, attend the ESL ExcELLence Symposium for Oklahoma City PUblic Schools, and present a session called "Why Your Library is the Most Important Place in Town," sharing library resources available for educators
- 10/14: CH library manager attends OKCPS's "Engaging Hispanic Families" conference
- 10/14: Jana Hausburg attends the Latino Community Development Agency luncheon
- 10/14: CH and OUT staff participate in the 2nd Annual Haunt the Hill on Calle Dos Cinco, a fall festival event sponsored by Historic Capitol Hill, giving away more than 1000 books and treats to children in the community
- 12/14: Holiday Open House -- our annual event featuring pictures with Santa, reading with Santa's Elves, a jazz band, refreshments, and more.
- 4/15: Children's Festival -- CH and OUT staff participate in the SW 29th Street District's Festival of Children, giving away free books to children in the community
