New Neighborhood Arts Schedule
With the addition of a new library on the Northwest Corner of Oklahoma County, a new Neighborhood Arts Schedule had to be conceived. It was the perfect opportunity to include all library locations in one schedule. Prior to this time the extensions had their own "Summer at the Extension" programming due to the fact that the full-service library schedule was maxed out at 17 performances per week. This schedule was already taxing to the performers. So a new plan was made that included 2 concurrent schedules running in the same week and included ALL library locations. It also allowed the performers to only do 10 shows per week. Such a relief. It worked beautifully. New locations were chosen for some of the extensions to accomodate a possible increase in attendance. This year's Neighborhood Arts attendance was 14,525. What an amazing summer of art exposure for our families. Our long-time partners in this effort are the Arts Council of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Arts Council, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
