After much discussion and input, a new process for requesting and distributing monies from the Friends for special projects is beginning. This new process will streamline the wish list and allow consideration of special projects needed by different libraries and departments throughout the year.

MLS Staff Volunteers contribute over 10% of the overall Booksale Volunteer total each year, with Maintenance contributing 100% staff assistance. MLS Staff Volunteers helped bring in $220,000 from the 2012 Friends of the Library Booksale in February.

Over the past month we have discussed on the MyMetrolibrary forums the four responses and eight goals we are considering for our next Strategic Plan. I find it extremely beneficial and exciting to be able to hear from others on the forums and thank each person who has contributed. Additional input from staff is sought bringing a broader perspective of outcomes.

The city and commission of the Library asked Patience Latting, former mayor of OKC to be the namesake for the Northwest Library

The Friends of the Library have historically underwritten the staff recogntion program with service pins and certificates for staff that have completed 5 years of service or more.
