Earth Day Art Contest
Hello again! It's your friendly neighborhood Staff Association! We hope that everyone enjoyed their TeaGrams and those that missed out, hopefully you found some other way to show your apprecation to those you work with.
We are here to annouce another contest for the Metropolitan Library System, this time centered around Earth Day. Earth Day has been observed annually on April 22, since its inception in 1970. It's one of the largest secular observances in the world. It's a time to think about your impact on the world and how to create a better world for the future.
This year, to not only help us as a system (such as a tree or other plant), but to help us as community Staff Assocation has decided to host an Earth Day Art Contest, not only to strech our creative thinking skills, but to build the bonds in our communities.
To participate, download the provided leaf template below, find a leaf template online, or find a leaf (or two!) around your branch. Then, working as a team with your department/office/branch/etc, decorate the leaf or leaves in a way that you feel collectively represents yourselves and/or reflects the theme of this year’s contest, which will be shared via an intranet post next week. Upload a picture of your creation(s) to the entry form (coming next week) so that we can create a tree reflecting the unique makeup of Metro. There may be multiple entries per department, but each must be a collective effort of at least two people.
Entries will be shared on the intranet and staff can vote for their top 3 favorites. The 3 entries with the highest number of votes will receive a prize pack of “green” items. One additional winner will be selected by Staff Association as best fulfilling this year’s theme. Winners will be announced following the April Staff Association Meeting on Earth Day, April 22.
