Collection Services and Development Minutes - December 19, 2019
System updates/Reminders –

Must inform Chris Kennedy when official visits from elected officials occur so that he can officially represent the administration.

CSD Mangers hiring update – Positions have closed; Pauline is reviewing and interviews will be forthcoming. We hope to interview in January.

Customer service surveys – each department in CSD will be part of the rotation of surveys being conducted around the system. A schedule was shared.

Budget discussion –

Budgeting process begins in February

PSLT has developed an Excel sheet for tracking expenses, etc.

Pauline asked for team to review current budgets for any large purchases that may still need to be made.
Cataloging/Interlibrary Loan –
-
The ILLiad upgrade is complete. There were a few snags, but over all the upgrade process went well.

Initiated analysis of ILL stats to better evaluate ILL service
-
Cataloging work with Access Services on a Pokémon Adventures cataloging project. All Pokemon titles will now be shelved together and sorted by series and then volume numbers. This will provide more consistent cataloging practices as well as assist the shelvers in libraries.
Collection Development –
-
Has begun training in the use of Edelweiss as a tool to help with purchasing, collection development and weeding.

Three webinars to provide additional Edelweiss training have been developed and will soon be available on Edubrite.

The department has begun the planning process for the next cycle of site visits.

Discussion about cleaning up records for ebooks that are no longer available.
Special Collections –
-
Judie Matthews will be starting in SCR on December 30. The department will have an increased focus on programming, exhibits and displays.

Discussed the Black History Collection and its future development.
Future meeting dates –

Because there are five Thursdays in January and the first one occurs on Jan. 2, the next meeting will be on Jan. 30 at the Service Center.
