Happy Notes – Rondia visited the Seattle Public Library and attended an author event for astronaut Tom Jones. Kim congratulated the teams that helped with the Momma Cusses event and support of OLA table coverage.

 

Breaking News – Today is the last call for MLS polo shirts, the 2nd gift will be an MLS branded lunch box. Embark bus pass grant will not be available after June 2024. Meghan Mueller will be the new Homeless Alliance Director.

Almonte Opening – Grand opening and ribbon cutting will be May 15, 2024, at 10:00am. City of OKC will plan and carry out the ribbon cutting. Helpers will be needed to man service stations – hoping to have Almonte staff to chat with guests and show new library. The mural artist has ok’d the use of the artwork for special edition library cards for the first 1,000 sign ups. Almonte is planning events for the first 2.5 weeks the library is open.

CEO departure – plan is to fill the position before Larry exits. More updates will be shared as they are available

Regional alignment – the Regional Director job description is being updated, and the plan is to fill the open RD role. After the role is filled, the regions will shift to be more geographic:

  • NW, BI, WA, BE
  • ED, ED II, VI, Access, CIS
  • RE, MC, DC, CL,
  • DN/WR, AL, CH, SO

SH 120: Breaks – Reminder that a 15-minute paid rest break is only applicable to shifts exceeding 4 hours. If staff have accommodation needs, those requests should be directed to HUM

Cintas mats – RD's looking into a mat cleaning service.

Action:  Let your RD know what dimensions you need and how many. Existing mats will be replaced – account for replacing all mats.

Lost and Found – Existing best practices document being reviewed and updated.                

Action: Review local procedure and update. Need assistance updating location            information – send before the end of March to GSLT email. Contacts to local        police precincts will be done by:

Todd - Santa Fe (covers AL, CH, SO)

Jason - Springlake (covers DN, RE)

 

Access Request - If submitting new staff or existing staff access request, include your RD in the email to ensure approval by Dennis

Alarm Accidents - Instructions have been updated to include Dennis’ contact info in case of alarm accident. Dennis will contact the alarm company directly to cancel the alarm – no location staff are authorized to call the alarm company

ILLiad – There has been an increase in the branch generic login requests for ILL. Reminder that guests can establish their own accounts and track the status independently. On the MLS webpage under “How do I” there is an FAQ section for ILL. Staff or guests can also use www.metrolibrary.org/ill

EC Walkthroughs – Mon, Tues, and Weds the week of 3/17/24 the executive team will be visiting locations. These visits are to prepare for the next budget cycle and identify needs.

Staff Day – Will be October 14, 2024, at the Embassy Suites Downtown Medical location. No photo booth this year, may need more therapy dogs than last year.

Budget – Do not include funds for Chamber events but include Chamber membership dues. The amount for incidental training has been increased to $500 for the Registrations line item. OES will add money to 5160 after the preliminary budget requests to account for events such as 123! Play with Me!. See email sent after the last GSM meeting for instructions for setting baselines.
