Performance Management System Project Update - August 15, 2017
Project Update
Hi Folks-
This is the fourth update about the ongoing Compensation/Classification and Performance Management studies for the Metropolitan Library System and since my last communication, a lot has happened. The program materials for our new performance development process, such as forms, guides, FAQ, and timelines have been developed and reviewed by the Performance Development Committee. The Leadership Team will review the documents this week and then the focus groups will review and test them. We expect program materials to be finalized at the end of August.
The Library is currently in the process of reviewing how to integrate the new performance development system into Paycom, and we will keep you updated on our progress.
The external custom salary survey was sent out to 36 libraries, local government, K12, and higher education organizations last month and so far we have had 19 of the organizations complete the survey or in the process of doing so. The Singer Group and our HR team will continue to work with the remaining participants to get as much participation as possible. Thank you to the Compensation Project Committee for providing their feedback on the survey pilot test.
The Position Description Questionnaire (PDQ) process for the classification study was completed for both departmental and member services staff. Interviews for member services staff will be conducted over the next couple of weeks. Thank you everyone for keeping up with the schedules and completing the questionnaires on time.
As you can see, the projects are moving forward. As promised, we will continue to post bi-weekly updates of project activities.

The following are the current updates on the performance development and compensation/classification studies:
- Performance Development: Program materials—such as forms, guides, FAQ, and timelines—have been developed and have been reviewed with the Performance Development Committee and leadership team. Participants in the focus groups will test the materials and provide input during sessions scheduled on August 25. We hope to finalize the materials by the end of August. In addition, while the system application for the program has not yet been finalized, integration with Paycom is under review. Further information on the system will be shared when available.
- Compensation and Classification: Interviews for public services staff are in the process of being scheduled and will take place over the next couple of weeks. The custom compensation survey is still open and we are continuing to ask for participation. We anticipate closing the survey by the end of the week.
