Data Usage Statistics and Electronic Resources Management System: Phase 1

Develop a system to manage electronic resources and gather statistics on database usage. Data usage statistics on electronic resources are beneficial for the library to reference during the materials selection process, as well as reporting on for informational and budgetary purposes. The library can reference how often a resource is used by our patrons during the renewal process to determine if the resource is worth continuing.

Collection Development
Priority:
Operational
Problem Statement:

The library currently gathers data usage statistics by manually downloading reports from each vendor’s website. This process is very time consuming and inefficient. The development of a system that would automate the data collection process would provide the library with greater usage statistics on our electronic resources for materials selection and reporting. Staff would report on electronic resources data in one location versus visiting all vendor websites. The system would reduce the amount of staff time spent on gathering statistics.
