Program Justification
Is a program the best way to meet the expressed need or present information?:
Yes
Does the program fit the goals of the MLS?:
Yes
How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?:
This program both acknowledges the growing popularity of "adult coloring" as a relaxation exercise and provides teens with a way of participating in it. The program will also serve as a space for teens to relax after school, and will test the success of this time slot for potential future after-school art programs.
Which Strategic Plan Response/Goals does this program meet?:
Ensure a Welcoming Experience: Visitors are welcomed into an atmosphere of hospitality, exemplary service, and friendly interaction.
Why will this program be successful?:
Teen and Adult meditative coloring / zentangle programs have been a growing trend nationally, including programs at LAPL and even here at MLS. This will be a very low-cost program to host, and it will provide local teens a place to meet new friends and relax during a hectic time of year.
How will success be measured/determined?:
Attendance and engagement of new/existing teen visitors and customers. Would be great if current "library teens" could use this as an informal opportunity to draw friends into the library.
