Program Description: 
Join with other kids as we read several books by the ever inventive Dr. Seuss. Kids will play the part of a Dr. Seuss character in our readers theatre. A special mystery pet will visit our club meeting to help answer the Dr Seuss question: What Pet Should I Get? The book themes and reading level are appropriate for grades three and above. Read the books What Pet Should I Get? and Yertle the Turtle and Other Stories before attending the book club. Some copies of the books will be available at the Information Desk.

The Kids' Book Club challenges young readers to read more and introduces them to new books they may not have encountered. It adds activities that stimulate them to consider books thoughtfully and discuss them with peers.

Satisfy Curiosity: Visitors explore their interests using the variety of information at the library.
Why will this program be successful?: 
Because of the perennial appeal of Dr. Seuss, children should be attracted to this special program on his inventive works of literature.

Attendance of 12 or more children. Children will check out other books by Dr. Seuss and participate in the activities of the book club that supplement the reading.

Final Comments: 
The date of this program is close to the date for moving the library to its temporary location. It is possible to move the date to a week earlier, February 14, if the meeting room and work schedule can permit. It is good to have it fairly close to Dr. Seuss's birthday before March 2.
