Program Justification

Yes
Does the program fit the goals of the MLS?:
Yes
How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?:
This program will promote several of our core values. It supports our view of Library Members First by treating teenagers as valuable library members and providing them with high quality service by having a club just for them! This book club also supports the Freedom to Learn by allowing teens the freedom to choose any book to read and discuss that they want. The discussion of the books will help teens with their ability to accurately discuss literature with their peers and will build self confidence.
Which Strategic Plan Response/Goals does this program meet?:
Satisfy Curiosity: Visitors explore their interests using the variety of information at the library.
Why will this program be successful?:
This program will be successful because it will allow teens to read books that they choose, but it will also cause them to experience new genres of books that they might not have read before. It will also be a time for the teens to make new friends and build their social skills.
How will success be measured/determined?:
Success will be measured by how engaged the teens are in discussions about the books we read. Even if we do not have many teens show up, if the teens who do show up are really participating in discussion I will think this program is a success.
