Program Description: 
A story time just for you at your neighborhood library! Introduce your little ones to the library and create excitement about reading. Attending story times and using resources of the library helps build a foundation for your child’s future success in school. Connect with others while enjoying books, music, rhymes, a flannel board story and craft. A professional librarian will lead story time and share tips on reading readiness.

How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?: 
The program introduces preschool to the library programs and services. Objectives of the program include acquisition of pre-reading skills such as print motivation, acquiring narrative skills, recognizing rhyming words and print skills such as left to right progression of writing. Affective learning includes learning that the library welcomes families and young children.

Satisfy Curiosity: Your libraries are centers that offer access to civic, cultural and community enrichment opportunities.
Why will this program be successful?: 
Story times attract families of young children and they will return and make it a habit of using the library as a resource center for learning and entertaining.
How will success be measured/determined?: 
Attendance of 10 or more children at the story time with additional adults and younger siblings. Families will return for additional library visits and utilize library resources in conjunction with their visits to the library.
