Program Description: 
Sharing in playtimes is an excellent way to help children build social skills, promote learning and discover that the library is a destination for fun! We will conclude our play time with a brief educational story time with music, rhymes, movement, flannel board activities and a brief story. Choose the 9:30 or 10:30 session. A professional librarian will lead story time and share tips on reading readiness.

How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?: 
Play times provide an introduction to the library for our youngest members and their families . They can feel that the library includes even the youngest children in its programs. Play times provide learning experiences with books and other educational materials and the opportunity to learn important social skills.
Which Strategic Plan Response/Goals does this program meet?: 
Ensure a Welcoming Experience: Visitors are welcomed into an atmosphere of hospitality, exemplary service, and friendly interaction.
Why will this program be successful?: 
In terms of attendance, play times are currently our most successful early childhood program. Families appreciate access to educational toys and experiences available at the library.
How will success be measured/determined?: 
An average of 8 to 12 children at the six November play and story time sessions. Families who attend will want to come back to the library to attend additional program opportunities. Family will utilize library resources while at the library and check them out to take home with them.

Yes, order through RFP or shop locally for additional supplies.
Supply/Shopping List: 
Possibly children's stickers. Will mostly use material on hand such as glue sticks, crayons and paper.
Final Comments: 
Used the language from the standard blurb only adding "choose the 9:30 or 10:30 session." This should promote more equal attendance at the back to back sessions. Sessions of less than 8 children or more than 12 may be less successful in attaining the ideal learning environment.
