Program Justification
Is a program the best way to meet the expressed need or present information?:
Yes
Does the program fit the goals of the MLS?:
Yes
How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?:
This program supports the value of library members first. This will be a chance to reach out to our afternoon adult/senior adult crowd to make them feel welcome and provide an opportunity for them to socialize with other library members. This is an extension of my monthly intereach visits to the Village At Oakwood assisted living center. One month I will visit them at the assisted living center and the next month they will come as a group to Almonte to hold the book club.
Which Strategic Plan Response/Goals does this program meet?:
Ensure a Welcoming Experience: Visitors are welcomed into an atmosphere of hospitality, exemplary service, and friendly interaction.
Why will this program be successful?:
The Village At Oakwood assisted living center held their book club here at Almonte in November and greatly enjoyed the experience. They asked me to open the book club to other members of the library so that they may meet other book lovers while they are here. This is a great opportunity for the seniors to get out and about and meet new people.
How will success be measured/determined?:
Attendee feedback as well as feedback from the activity director at VAO.

No

Final Comments:
This will be a continual program held on the 3rd Wednesday of every other month. The VAO book club has decided that everyone will select their own book to read each month so I will no longer be purchasing books for them. The remainder of my existing budget for purchasing books and the additional $50 will go towards purchasing refreshments for the months that they visit Almonte. Their visit in November was very successful with 6 attendees.
