Program Description:
The Total Wellness program provides education for Oklahoma County residents in prevention of diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and asthma. Class participants receive free health screenings. Knowledgeable staff review the screening results, and make referrals to appropriate health care facilities and community resources. Classes provide information and tools to help participants learn how to prevent or delay the onset of chronic diseases.
Classes focus on:
Dietary changes and making healthier choices
Increasing physical activity
Reducing body weight
Creating a balance between diet and physical activity
Developing new healthy lifestyle habits
Classes meet one hour a week for eight weeks.
