Debbie will teach students to paint, draw, cut, sculpt, and glue with materials such as clay, fabrics, paints, pencils, pastels, markers, colored papers, ribbons, yarns, found objects, and colored tissue. Emphasis is placed on creativity and self-expression. Art projects may be designed to fit a specific curriculum and the special needs of students.
Possible art projects include the following: bookmaking, fans, weaving, kite making, pinwheels, printmaking, windsocks, three-dimensional puffed sculptures, decorative hats, greeting cards, clay sculptures, banners, paper-mâché sculpture, shakers, mobiles, masks, puppet making, murals, dream catchers, marbled papers, paper making, wands, frames, stitchery, doll making, flags, shields, ornaments, totems, jewelry, dioramas, quilt making, calendars, wreaths, memory boxes, rain sticks, found object sculptures, rock art, stencil art, and wire sculptures. Activities with holiday arts and crafts, and also cultural/ethnic arts and crafts are available too.
Additional art activities include: mosaics, wood sculptures, collage, basket making, paper sculptures, box constructions, posters, art and design books, sand painting, felt art, plaster casting, batik, tie-dye, yarn art, pillow making, tin art, stepping stones, costume making, scrapbooks, decorated t-shirts, origami, wearable art, bookmarks, and toy making. Other art instruction includes: watercolor painting, acrylic painting, oil painting, pastel drawing, colored pencil drawing, basic drawing, pen and ink drawing, portrait drawing, charcoal drawing, figure drawing, and mixed-media painting/collage. This list is a sampling of available art classes and activities. Other art projects can also be created depending on the needs of each situation.
Debbie is available throughout the school year and during the summer. She works well with students of all ages and levels of ability. She conducts workshops, classes, art camps, and teacher in-service training.
