Everyone arrived, greeted each other, got something to eat and found a place to sit.
Winter Readfest begins 2-1-2010. For the grand prize drawing of the laptop computer, each branch will draw 2 slips and send to Anita and Outreach will draw for the winner.
ZuZu’s Petals started the day off right for us by giving a presentation of their musical skills.
Darlene, Downtown: Wayne McEvilly concerts; Fall Senior Day-they invited srs. And nursing homes, gave tours, they enjoyed the Noon Tunes, and saw a fail on National Parks. Another SD scheduled for spring. Tap dancing group over 55. April 18-Russion Author; OSU Language Dept. records opened in 1991. Pavel Trabinski funded by OK. Himanities Council.
Ralph Ellison—Smooth move back into new/old building. Larest Winter Readfest last year-they challenged staff. There is a month-long grand opening in February.
Kathleen Lienke from OKC Public Schools Media Centers discussed the new school initiative: Building a Reading City—one person at a time. Schools are mandated to visit libraries on a schedule. Logo is in this web address www.buildingareadingcity.com
Debra Spindle from OK History Center (formerly of MLS) spoke on a variety of resources for MLS offered by the History Center and gave a few genealogy hints. Discussion followed about Phyllis Davidson and the workshops she is presenting on Gen.

Belinda Martin spoke about teaching Career and Student Stategies, Interview Skills, Resume Writing and some computer classes.
Mary Surbeck of Oklahoma City Community Foundation told us about “Get Reading Oklahoma City” the centreal Oklahoma Reading Coalition to promote and help new readers. She discussed the OETA tv training and some other initiatives. Call OCCF for additional information.
Pace Fitness Center gave a stress management training which wasn’t what we had expedted but had valid information anyway.
Maurice Johnson played smooth jazz for us to end out day on a mellow note. (no pun intended) (Maurice is the son of Joyce Johnson who runs the mail room in the DN Library)
