Happy Notes

  • Several managers shared positive news.

Breaking News

  • The March location of the PSM Meeting will be at NW and not RE. The meeting is March 2, 2023, 1:30-4:00 p.m. (Northwest Library).
  • Updated guidelines regarding showing a movie/tv show- We have previously said that we needed to own a copy of the movie/tv show and that it should not be streamed. Due to a recent situation that came up (an OETA show that we were unable to purchase a physical copy, but it was available to stream on OETA’s website) we will make exceptions when we are unable to purchase a copy and we have permission to stream it. Please include your manager and RD in the conversation about exceptions.  Also, there can be exceptions when the movie is rated “R” as with the Downtown library who showed Schindler’s List during the Americans in the Holocaust exhibit.  Remember it should be educational and support the theme of what is happening at the library.  Talk to your manager and RD if you want to show something and it would be an exception. The updated guidelines will be sent out soon. The managers took a break and walked through MC. When we resumed the meeting, we talked about what they had noticed in the building.

GX Update

  • Mark thanked everyone for the feedback that he has already received about the Guest Experiences training and to keep it coming.  Also remember to send it to him by the end of Sunday so that he can incorporate it into the presentation.  We are working on 2 different trainings. We will be sharing the content once it’s been finalized.

Outreach Update

  • We are getting ready for Summer Reading and ‘All Together Now’ is the theme. OES is going to get re-acquainted with staff and will have three open houses to provide information on what they have and can provide to libraries when they are putting on events.  Remember you need to go into Library Market and enter the number of people that attend your programs and outreach events so that the data analyst can pull the numbers. Also remember you can borrow Spoticus the mascot.

Budget Update Reminders

  • Please remember to respond to John’s email about IT budget requests for next year. The RDs will be talking with Steve soon and let everyone know how we will be handling budget requests for MTC.
  • There have been conversations about changing where we would budget food items. If this change occurs, it will mean that whether the food is refreshments (i.e. cookies and coffee for a book club) or if it was a part of a program (i.e. macaroni for an art project) it would come from the same budget line.  If this change is made, we will let you know.
  • When looking at your programming budget, remember that we are looking at the full year this coming fiscal year.
  • Please put in money for an additional notary at your location for the upcoming fiscal year.

Library Market and closures

  • Remember that it is the local branch’s responsibility to cancel programs and study room reservations in Library Market if we are closed unexpectedly. It was suggested that templates be made to have a ready response when you need to cancel things and Laura, Paula JJ, Todd and George volunteered to work on those.

Location Sharing

  • Each location shared an update about their location.
