Summer Reading udpate – Kristin – pre-registration will be opening early to accommodate school schedules and capture audiences for our Metro Family Magazine ad, supplies are being routed, teaching training will be available soon
Plans for Volunteer Recognition
Heidi – approved for Friday, July 29th after hours Teen Volunteer Recognition event, atrium dance party and check-in on 1st floor, pizza and activities on the 4th floor, balloon drop and DJ, ideas for this year:

OES Updates
New STEAM kits – Emily – OES now has two button makers (1.25” and 2”), a Makedo cardboard construction kit, and is in the process of creating a hybrid programming kit with tech resources
Teen Mental Health training – Emily – scheduled for May 25 with the Oklahoma Mental Health Association, staff can ask questions about specific scenarios before the event
Pivot field trips – Emily – booked for May, June, and July with 3 spots left in the July session
Sharing and Programming Discussion
SO – fan fiction/fan art contest went well with 15 entries, book boxes
AL – Western Heights High School outreach, teen volunteer interviews underway, National Children’s Book Week all ages kit, coral reef with pool noodles as SR decoration, break from anime club in June and July but will continue on Zoom in August, Memorial Day wreaths take home kit, tsunami architecture, paper circuit fish
CL – galaxy in a jar, teen volunteer spots filling up, school outreach
CH – Capitol Hill High School visit, outreach, Free Comic Book Day party
VI – passive programs, getting ready for summer
MC – bath bomb and windchime take home kits, planning babysitting 101 program in June, SR volunteers
SCR – library-related podcast on alternating months, if you’re interested talk to Sheldon
BI – first in-person program, take home kits, new space, Teen Advisory Board starting up
DVS – 58 teen volunteers are currently interviewed and placed for the summer
NW – 15 teen summer volunteers placed, question about different ages registering for book boxes
WA – crafternoon, getting ready for summer, K-pop dance class
RE – Thursday gaming days, building up new audiences, rock tumbling
ED – recruiting great new teen volunteers, soap carving, Emerging Technologies dept at OU doing in-person virtual reality program
BE – gearing up for Summer Reading, pilot for Guest Experiences training, planning summer kickoff with outdoor games on June 1, Rocket Readers
DN – GeekCon is virtual: Fakemon, DIY comic books, anime club after Summer Reading
DC – virtual D&D, carnival kickoff for Summer Reading, middle school outreach, Battle Bots
SPP – deadline for June/July events in the print calendar is today, more opportunities for social media content creation coming soon
OES – sending out Summer Reading supplies, order fill days are Tuesdays and Thursdays, be sure to enter outreach numbers into Library Market
