Earth Day Contest Open

Like a tree, MLS is made up of branches and support structures akin to a trunk and roots. The health of one branch affects the others; in an effort to boost our community awareness and allow staff an opportunity to stretch their creative thinking skills, Staff Association is hosting an Earth Day Art Contest. This is also the last week to submit your pieces.

The theme for this year is "Learn character from trees, values from roots, and change from leaves."

To participate, download the provided leaf template below, find a leaf template online, or find a leaf (or two!) around your branch. Then, working as a team with your department/office/branch/etc, decorate the leaf or leaves in a way that you feel collectively represents yourselves and/or reflects the theme of this year’s contest. Upload a picture of your creation(s) to the entry form located on the SA tab of the intranet by April 10 so that we can create a tree reflecting the unique makeup of Metro. There may be multiple entries per department, but each must be a collective effort of at least two people.

Entries will be shared on the intranet and staff can vote for their top 3 favorites. The 3 entries with the highest number of votes will receive a prize pack of “green” items. One additional winner will be selected by Staff Association as best fulfilling the theme. Winners will be announced following the April Staff Association Meeting on Earth Day, April 22.

Staff Association (SA) exists to support, engage, and advocate for all MLS staff. We are a voluntary organization not formally affliated with the Metropolitan Library System; as such, particiapation in SA events, tasks, and projects is not compensable. All business except for one monthly meeting of the Executive Council is to be conducted off the clock.
