Is a program the best way to meet the expressed need or present information?:
Does the program fit the goals of the MLS?:
How & why does this program meet the goals of the MLS?:
Story times provide an introduction to the library for families and young children. They provide a welcoming message that the library includes even the youngest age children in its programs. Story times help build pre-reading skills: print motivation, print awareness, phonological awareness, vocabulary, narrative skills and letter knowledge. These are valuable building blocks toward learning to read.
Which Strategic Plan Response/Goals does this program meet?:
Ensure a Welcoming Experience: Visitors are welcomed into an atmosphere of hospitality, exemplary service, and friendly interaction.
Why will this program be successful?:
Story times have produced a faithful audience at the library over a long period of time and this continues into today.
How will success be measured/determined?:
Attendance by 10 or more children in addition to their adult caregivers. Families will leave story time with the desire to return for additional program opportunities. Families will use library resources while visiting the library for story time and take them home with them.
